We definitely appreciate you taking the time to reach out, and hope you have a great day. You may also wish to reach out to Honeywell and see if they're able to offer any kind of coupon or trade-in for you to get a newer model of control panel that conforms with more modern WiFi standards. Past that, if you still need any help, please give us a call at 87 or email and we'd be happy to do everything we can to make sure that your devices play nice together.

Once the Honeywell is configured for the first time onto the network, then it won't matter what frequency your app connects on, since they should be able to communicate over the LAN. The easiest option to start with is powering down all but the primary eero, which should help you get on the 2.4GHz more easily by moving into another room, away from from the primary. That said, if the app requires 2.4GHz to communicate with the panel for first-time setup, then there are definitely some workarounds we can suggest to help get the app connected on 2.4 more consistently. I'd like to be very clear that we don't plan to implement WPS support at any point in the foreseeable future, due to the major inherent security flaws. I definitely understand your frustration here, it's tough when smart devices don't work together. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, nihil, and sorry to hear you're having some trouble with that control panel. If using an app-based WPS button is secure, will eero implement that?Īnd if all WPS is just deemed insecure, I’d be grateful for recommendations on what to look for in a new printer that enables me to join an eero (or any non-WPS) WiFi network without going through the hassle I’ve just had.Ĭould something like Thread help here perhaps? Now as for security - I’ve done a little bit of reading and it’s not clear (to me anyway) whether it’s *only* the PIN method of WPS that is insecure, or whether having a (virtual) push button approach is also problematic or not. So putting security considerations aside, there is no reason eero couldn’t add support for push button WPS via a firmware update. Having very recently switched from Apple Airport to eero, today I’ve felt the pain of having to connect my printer manually to my eero WiFi - entering a strong password on a telephone-style numeric keypad is a nightmare!įirst off, as an FYI - Apple support the push button style of WPS via the Airport Utilty app (similar to the eero app), without having any physical buttons on the router.
